Absolutely exquisite antique French PUIFORCAT marked 102pc sterling silver flatware set with ornate Louis XVI or rococo style pattern, matching 4pc TEA & COFFEE SET and all beautifully kept in the original campaign style layered storage chest! Actually a 106pc set with the tea & coffee service, it consists of: One 21 5/8" campaign storage chest. Twelve 8 5/8" forks. Twelve 8 5/8" spoons. Twelve 9 7/8" pearl handled knives. Twelve 7 3/8" forks. Twelve 7 3/8" spoons. Twelve 7 7/8" pearl & silver blade knives. Twelve 8" pearl & steel blade knives. Twelve 5 7/8" teaspoons Two 10" vermeil bowl salad serving pieces Two 8 1/8" cheese knives. One 8 1/4" Sugar sifter/strainer One 6" sugar tong 10 5/8" coffee pot. 8 5/8" tea pot. 7" covered sugar bowl/caddy. 5 1/4" creamer jug. An amazing 228 Troy ounces or 7100 grams total weight, not including the pearl handled knives or chest of course . The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark on all pieces, 1st titre designating .950 silver content (95% pure, higher than the .925 standard for sterling silver). Silversmith marks for the world renowned Puiforcat silversmith house! Since 1820, Puiforcat has created flatware, among a host of fine silver, to give tables a touch of elegance and refinement that has symbolized French "art de vivre". NOTHING missing!! Some light surface scuffs in places on the flatware, a few of the 7 3/8" forks have slightly bent tines. A tiny dimple or two possible to the tea & coffee set but no large dents, damage or repairs to note. The chest has an inlaid brass cartouche with matching engraved monogram, is complete and intact (in great shape) with just an age/drying split across the top. Chest has a working lock with key.
