Antique Alvin Silver Overlay Perfume Bottle NICE ~NoRes The antique silver overlay on glass stoppered bottle that you are bidding on is in very good condition. It is monogrammed with an Old English style letter on the shield area designed for such. I think the letter is an H, you decide. The bottle and stopper are each engraved / etched with a small 5 in the bottoms, indicating that they are matching. The other number on the bottom appears to be a 33 that they maker crossed out. The silver is still adhering tightly to the glass and there is no silver missing. The glass does show some 'sickness' but I did not try to clean it in any way. There appears to be some cracking inside the neck collar, but it is smooth on the inside to the touch, not jagged. There is a tiny flake or two on the bottom of the stopper and some wear scratches on the base of the bottle, from lifting it and putting it back down. The overall height is 3 1/8 inches tall and the bottle measures 3 3/8 inches across the bottom. The silver is marked on the base, as shown in the pictures, Patented 41 999/1000 Fine with the Alvin Manufacturers hallmarks. With International precious metals prices at all time highs and expected to go (much?) higher, this might be the time to "invest," and this might be the perfect item (pictured).
